CEE Celebrates the Class of 2025

The families and friends of the CEE Class of 2025 gathered with CEE faculty to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class and share in the joy, and possibly relief, of completing final projects, papers, and exams. Our departmental Graduation Reception and Award Ceremony recognized 27 students graduating with degrees in Civil Engineering and 6 students with degrees in Environmental Engineering. We also made awards to 10 students for their outstanding achievements, innovative designs, and high potential in their future careers.
Aimee Sze, who graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, received the Civil Engineering Senior Award. This award was established by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to recognize an outstanding civil engineering graduating senior.
Brynn Stansiulis, who graduated with her B.S. in Environmental Engineering, was awarded the Environmental Engineering Senior Award. This award was established by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to recognize outstanding environmental engineering graduating seniors.
Luke Simmons, who graduated with a B.S./M.S. in Civil Engineering and a minor in Architectural Engineering & Design, and Chelean Berry, who graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Minor in Spanish, received the Edwin C. Rossow Prize for Structural Engineering Senior. This prize was established by Professor Rossow’s former students to honor his contributions and dedication to his students. The award is given to a civil engineering student who, by activities and achievements, demonstrates the enormous potential to contribute and succeed as a professional in structural engineering.
The Jimmie Quon Memorial Award for Environmental Engineering Senior was awarded to Seeley McGillis, who graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Minors in Data Science and Engineering and Art Theory and Practice, and an Honor Thesis. Established by his former students to honor Professor Quon and his contributions to the academic and environmental engineering profession, this award is given to an environmental engineering senior with the highest potential to make significant contributions to the advancement of environmental engineering and a positive impact on society.
Douglas Aris, B.S. in Civil Engineering and Minor in Architectural Engineering and Design, Sydney Astle, B.S. in Civil Engineering and Dual Degree with the Bienen School of Music, Allie Holmgren, B.S./M.S. in Civil Engineering, Hector Morales, B.S. in Civil Engineering and Minor in Architectural Engineering and Design, and Lena Silvan, B.S. in Environmental Engineering and Minor in Spanish, were all awarded the Wallis S. Hamilton Award for Civil and Environmental Engineering Senior – an award that recognizes a senior who best exemplifies the standards of Professor Hamilton: teacher, researcher, and professional engineer.
Finally, Ellie Lind, B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architectural Engineering & Design, received the Architectural Engineering and Design Award. This Award was established by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to recognize outstanding performance in senior Capstone Design, particularly to a student pursuing innovative design solutions and exceeding expectations in a way that elevates the work of others throughout the class.
