Simge Küçükyavuz Starts Term as INFORMS Computing Society Chair

Simge Küçükyavuz, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University, begins her term as chair of the INFORMS Computing Society (ICS) this year.  Professor Küçükyavuz had previously served as ICS Vice-Chair in 2018-19 and had jointly won the ICS Prize in 2015. Professor J. Cole Smith, the new Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University, served as chair for the past two years.

The ICS was established in 1997, with related groups operating since the 1970s.  ICS addresses the interface of Operations Research (OR) and Computing. Major areas of interest include algorithms and software for modeling, optimization, and simulation, as well as the impact of advances in computing in OR.  More information can be found on the ICS website, as well as in the ICS Newsletter, which includes Professor Küçükyavuz's first statement as chair.
