Three MSR Students Reporting for RoboticsTomorrow

Three MSR students were selected by RoboticsTomorrow.com, an online news source for robotics and automation, to write guest columns to go along with their coverage of the Automate 2015 tradeshow held in Chicago. All MSR students interested in attending on behalf of RoboticsTomorrow.com were asked to write an essay discussing which companies at Automate they would be most excited about talking with, and why those companies are exciting to the robotics and automation industries. The essays were judged by a team at RoboticsTomorrow.com, and three winners were selected. The winners were then able to attend Automate with full access media passes provided by RoboticsTomorrow.com. More about this collaboration can be found on the RoboticsTomorrow.com press release.

The three winners were Austin Lawrence, Mahdieh Nejati Javaremi, and Sabeen Admani. Austin's essay focused on comparing some of the most cutting-edge technologies he saw at Automate. The essay from Mahdieh explained how the world of collaborative robotics has been facilitated by advances in sensing and embedded control. Sabeen took a slightly more philosophical stance; her essay presented a discussion of who is ultimately responsible for technological innovation in robotics.

Special thanks to the team at RoboticsTomorrow.com for making this collaboration possible. It was a great opportunity for the students.
