McCormick Advising
McCormick Advising
Advising at McCormick is structured to provide students with reliable, individualized attention throughout their undergraduate experience. As freshmen, engineering students meet regularly with faculty advisors to select courses and familiarize themselves with McCormick. At the end of the first year, each student transitions to a faculty advisor from the major he or she has declared. The student and departmental advisor are then able to build a relationship during the rest of the student's college years and beyond.
Along with faculty advisors, the staff of the Undergraduate Engineering Office is available to assist students with issues ranging from registration and major selection to study abroad and student activities. The McCormick undergraduate website serves as the online hub for student resources, including registration deadlines, student organizations, administrative forms, and the student handbook. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of academic support programs such as the Gateway Science Workshop and Tech Tutoring. The staff of the Walter P. Murphy Cooperative Engineering Education Program counsels students on arranging co-op and internship experiences, resume-building, networking, and other activities essential to joining the workforce.
