Northwestern’s Engineering’s Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics in the Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences are teaming up to host a workshop, "Metric Embeddings, Sketching, and Dimensionality Reduction,” on May 24-25.

This workshop, part of the CS Theory quarterly theory workshop series, will feature Assaf Naor, professor of mathematics at Princeton University, who will be on campus to accept the 2018 Frederic Esser Nemmers Mathematics Prize, which recognizes work of lasting significance in the field of mathematics, particularly in the development of new modes of analysis.

Other speakers include:

  • Moses Charikar – Donald E. Knuth Professor and (by courtesy) professor mathematics, Stanford University
  • Anupam Gupta – professor of computer science, Carnegie Mellon University
