I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2022 with a bachelor of science in economics, and a minor in data science. I’ve gained hand on data science experience in the classroom through courses such as data science and engineering, data science programming, and applied econometrics. Through my undergrad, I have been exposed to multiple programming languages, technologies, and frameworks that I have applied in both internship experience and personal projects. During my undergrad, I had the opportunity to be part of an extern program that allowed me to explore a topic of my interest related to data science. My project explored the prevalent characteristics of patients who were confirmed to contract the coronavirus. These characteristics included whether the patient smoked, had access to insurance, the average income, obesity, and other factors that were available in the data set.

I was selected as a GEM fellow at Northwestern University and was sponsored by Synopsys, an electronic design automation company focusing on silicon design and verification, silicon intellectual property, and software security and quality. I had the opportunity to intern with them as a business analyst in the software integrity group. My primary responsibilities consisted of developing dashboards that tracked new product metrics and comparing them to the projected goals. During my time at Synopsys, I mainly worked in Tableau and was able to expand my knowledge in data visualization, and how it can be applied across an organization.

I am excited to be a part of the MSiA* program in order to further deepen my knowledge in data science and analytics. I am looking forward to learning new technologies and challenging myself. While I am not yet set on a specific field,  the field I am most interested in at this moment is product analytics. Being able to track how customers interact with products, and analyze how the products perform across the product lifetime is something that I’ve wanted to explore, and hope using the methodologies learned in the program, I will be able to enter the field.
