Brian Hong graduated from Northwestern University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Data Science. At Northwestern, Brian supported fellow data science students as an undergraduate teaching assistant. He hosted office hours and assisted instructors in a flipped classroom setting, covering topics such as data wrangling, predictive modeling, data visualization, and more. Brian also served as project manager of Northwestern Formula Racing, a student-run engineering team that designs, manufactures, and races an open-wheel prototype car against other collegiate teams. Beyond campus, Brian has experience in the advertising industry, having interned at DDB Chicago. There, he supported strategy teams across multiple existing accounts and with various new business pitches, conducting market research and evaluating target audience data to produce novel insights for strategic briefs to creatives. He was also a member of the analytics team, developing and refreshing client-facing data dashboards and visualizations to summarize and report on creative asset performance, as well as designing tests to enable data-driven optimizations to creative works. Brian is also a longtime tutor at his local community college, where he advises college students on achieving their academic goals. Returning to Northwestern as a student in the MSiA* program, Brian looks forward to advancing his knowledge and growing his skill set in data science and analytics. He hopes to leverage this experience to continue seeking creative (and perhaps even unexpected) solutions to real-world challenges.
