Ke graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University Shanghai in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Data Science with a concentration in Finance. Combined with her minors in Mathematics and Interactive Media Arts, undergraduate studies have constructed an interdisciplinary toolbox for Ke to pursue a career in data-driven analysis. Through undergraduate research, internships, and a capstone project, Ke is particularly interested in how to autonomously manage real-world big data for further insights and to promote acceptance of data-driven solutions. Undergraduate studies in data science have equipped Ke with solid statistics and mathematics knowledge, literate Python programming skills, visualization toolkits, and a passion for machine learning and natural language processing. Ke’s industrial research deepened her interest to apply data science techniques in the business field. Heavily utilizing machine learning-based prediction, she has developed marketing strategies for the vacation homestay rental business. Ke’s capstone project supervised by aircraft finance experts has suggested an optimized currency basket for aircraft transactions, which exposed her to the professional way of data analysis. In the summer of 2021, Ke served as a data analyst intern at Logitech to coordinate the construction of its first data center and dashboard for e-commerce. She helped match sales data with the retrieved API data and identify the abnormal mismatch automatically within seconds, which boosted the data accuracy by over 15%. That role cultivated her business sense, data engineering experience, and visualization skills. As a candidate in the MSiA* program at Northwestern, Ke is thrilled to fill the gap between theoretical study and real-world data analysis and to become a data science professional. She is also interested in addressing data ethics issues based on her cross-cultural experiences in Asia, the Middle East, and North America. Ke is enthusiastic about her data science journey to help businesses make better decisions.
