Linyue graduated from the joint undergraduate degree program co-administered by the University of Maryland and China Agricultural University, with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural & Resources Economics and a minor in Statistics. The consistently impressive performance in the economics field let her understand the power of quantitative tools in social science and business and further confirmed her decision to study data science. To improve her technical background, Linyue completed coursework carefully in statistics, mathematics, economics, and computer science to penetrate multitudinous substances and realize her aspired career in data-centric occupations. In the 2021 Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM), Linyue collaborated with a team of three that was designated as the Meritorious Winner when she leveraged her quantitative analysis and programming talents to formulate unconventional solutions for food systems optimization. Also, during the Undergraduate Research Program advised by a senior professor at CAU, Linyue collected fundamental factors and securities prices data from several vendors and fitted a regression model to evaluate impactful risk components in the market. The research progress inspired her with extensive applications of statistical principles in quantitative finance and predictive analysis. Additionally, Linyue supposed that an internship opportunity that allowed her to apply theoretical concepts in tackling industry predicaments was meaningful for identifying and discovering her passionate career. Hence, she interned at Minsheng Securities’ investment & QA division during Summer 2021. In daily data reconciliation processes, she created a data model in Excel, consolidating data points about portfolio holdings from multiple providers. This internship affirmed her enthusiasm for data analytics and intensified her will to join the MSiA program at Northwestern University. As a candidate of the MSiA* program, Linyue is excited about the ensuing academic adventure here which would elevate her data analytics specialty and satisfy industry demanded skillset. She believes the widespread Northwestern alumni would guide her to find her lasting professional track and make her launch her wanted career.
