My name is Cailey and I graduated from Purdue University with degrees in Statistics and Mathematics (as well as a minor in French) in 2020. I loved my area of study and have always wanted to continue learning. I worked as a software engineer at JPMorgan the past 3 years and learned in-depth coding skills in Java, SQL, and React. My goal has been to combine my undergraduate statistical knowledge with the technical skills I have acquired through my work experiences. I am ecstatic to apply these backgrounds and dive even deeper through the Masters of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science. At Purdue, I was a part of a Machine Learning Research Team studying the bias associated with classifying images within well-known object detection datasets in computer vision. After a year of being on this team, I presented my research at Joint Statistical Meetings 2018 in Vancouver. This is an annual professional and academic conference for statisticians. This opportunity solidified my passion for statistical research and understanding after discussing my findings and learning from statisticians and students from all over the world! The following summer, I worked as a Sales Intelligence intern at TransUnion where I utilized Tableau and Alteryx for the first time. These tools helped me to communicate data-driven insights to audiences of various technical backgrounds. I have been eager to work with visual analytics and ETL tools ever since. In my free time, I love yoga, biking, reading, and painting. My yoga practice has lead me into mindfulness and meditation which have been essential to a healthy work life balance. I love to travel and study new languages, as well as to immerse myself into new cultures. I had the opportunity to study abroad in France in undergraduate and learned to speak French well. I am very much looking forward to becoming a student again and learning from and with the students in the cohort!
