Judy (Zhiyi) Zhu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double majoring in Economics and Philosophy, with a minor in Data Science. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she gained a strong foundation in economic theory and applied quantitative methods to diverse industries. Her data science minor expanded her analytical skills, proficiency in Python, R, Excel, statistics, machine learning, and data analytics through various projects. Beyond academics, Judy engaged in diverse internships and projects that enriched her theoretical knowledge with real-world experience. Notably, during her last research project at Tsinghua University, she focused on improving the accuracy of Aminer, an online data mining service for academic publications. During her Aramco internship, she forecasted battery trends, updated a battery cost model with Python automation, and predicted cost trends for different battery types in the US and Chinese markets. She contributed to the company's development and outlook in alternative energy by visualizing trends to forecast the development trajectory of the whole industry over the next decade. In the past, she had also successfully utilized R in a consulting project for a government program using artificial intelligence to enhance senior care services, earning the project a reward of RMB 3,000,000. Additionally, she served as an investment manager assistant in Everbright Bank and a research assistant at the Nursing School of UW-Madison, showcasing her versatility in applying skills to varied industries. Passionate about the transformative power of data in industries, Judy aspires to become a proficient data scientist and believes that the MLDS program's cutting-edge knowledge and career services will be instrumental in her growth. She eagerly looks forward to joining the MLDS family to strengthen her technical abilities and lead industries towards a prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future.
