Yuxuan Huang graduated from Tsinghua University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese. Her various explorations during undergraduate studies has led her to discover her genuine interest in data science. Her interdisciplinary academic journey spanning statistics, computer science and economics motivated her to delve deeper into quantitative methods that reveal the patterns behind data. Her research experience through environmental engineering and fintech projects have enhanced her coding proficiency in Python, especially in large-scale data processing and predictive modelling, while cultivating her interest in machine learning at the same time. Beyond her academic pursuits, Yuxuan also applied analytical methods to deal with real-world business problems. Her internship journey began with a product management internship at Kuaishou, where she leveraged the use of A/B testing through daily analysis work. Recognizing the impact of data science in optimizing product strategies and user experiences, she was motivated to step further into the role of data scientist, and to embark on her second internship at Didi Global. She applied causal machine learning methods like PSM and Double Machine Learning to evaluate operational experiments in the ride-hailing business. These evaluations empower the operations department to make informed decisions that prioritize the experience of millions of passengers and drivers. She then moved on to be a data scientist intern in the E-Commerce department at ByteDance, where she continued to apply modelling and experimental analysis methods, while optimizing the data infrastructure and ETL workflow within the group. As she prepares to embark on her new journey at MLDS program, Yuxuan is determined to enhance her proficiency in machine learning, big data analytics and model deployment through her graduate studies. With the well-structured curriculum and extensive professional network of MLDS, she is determined to develop herself and become a data scientist who creates user-centered products through data-driven insights.
