Ananya Rattan Khurana is a skilled professional with a strong background in data science, market analysis, and business analytics. Her academic journey began with a bachelor’s in Information Technology from Vellore Institute of Technology, India, where she delved into key Business Intelligence subjects like Statistics, Big Data Analytics, Microeconomics, and Psychology. During her bachelor’s, she interned as an Assistant Business Analyst at MoneySmart Singapore (May 2019 to July 2019). Here, she gained experience in behavioral and business data analytics, supported product and strategy teams, and created Excel dashboards to generate multiple traffic and profit calculations. Ananya’s professional journey is marked by significant achievements and contributions. Her work experience started with Axxela Advisory Services, Mumbai(January 2020 to May 2021). As a Market Analyst, she traded the Commodities Futures Market with a focus on the Energy Complex, namely Brent, WTI, RBOB, and Heating Oil. At Axxela, she monitored over 100 futures contracts and traded more than 3,000 round turns a month, delivering gross profitability each quarter. Her analytical skills were key in managing account PnL, calculating volume rebates, and determining suitable risk-reward ratios. While trading during peak COVID times, she actively worked on analyzing global news like OPEC meetings, Federal Reserve announcements, announcements made by world leaders, as well as importers and exporters, and macro and microeconomic data using top platforms like Reuters and Bloomberg. In September 2021, Ananya joined dunnhumby, working for the Personalization and Customer Engagement team of one of the biggest retailers in Central Europe. In the three years at dunnhumby, she led multiple customer engagement initiatives, analyzed the shopping habits of over 5 million people, and developed personalized promotion campaigns across three Central European markets. Her expertise in machine learning algorithms and sampling techniques was instrumental in calculating test and control customer bases, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of these campaigns. As a subject matter expert for Personalization, she worked on over 15 analyses, including a Deep Dive Solution for reducing uplift in mailings, which was integrated as a defined process and presented in global meetings. Among her notable achievements are creating an analysis solution from scratch to test changes in product and category relevancy scores, and a campaign-level dashboard using PowerBI aimed at aiding stakeholders in analyzing and gathering insights. Her performance and contributions have earned her numerous recognitions, including representing the Central Europe team in a presentation to the Chief Data Science Officer. She also played a crucial role in mentoring new team members, conducting multiple knowledge transfer sessions, and leading stakeholder meetings and brainstorming sessions. As she prepares to embark on her academic journey as an incoming MS in MLDS at Northwestern University, she is confident that her experience in viewing problem statements and helping build strategies that require both theoretical and practical understanding will help her become an adept data scientist and play an integral part in showcasing how Business Intelligence helps form a business story from start to finish.
