Junyuan (Marc) Si graduated from Emory University in 2024 with a double major in Quantitative Sciences (Informatics track) and Philosophy. During his undergraduate years, Marc acquired extensive knowledge in machine learning, visualizations, databases, business analytics, and programming languages such as Python, Java, SQL, and R. On campus, Marc served as a student ambassador in the Quantitative Sciences department, helping conduct events that raised awareness of the QTM department and data science as a whole. He helped execute and closely oversee “DataThink,” a semester-long consulting initiative partnered with Invest Atlanta, Atlanta government officials, and Accenture consultants, providing QTM students with exposure to real-life data science problems. Marc’s strong academic background has also served as a solid foundation on which he could apply his skills to real-life, data-related problems and continually generate value for his community. During his internship at Ernst & Young, Marc worked as a technology consultant to improve internal team decision-making, optimize clients’ ERP database structures, and help develop a comprehensive Batch Design visualization for the internal Solution Architecture team of more than 150 people. In his business analyst internship at Mubu, Marc developed a predictive linear regression ML model to forecast user retention and churn rates, aiding the process of targeted in-app marketing and promotions, resulting in an increase of nearly 30% in the promotion conversion rate. Marc is thrilled to join Northwestern University's MLDS program, where he will gain knowledge in advanced analytics and statistics that can be applied through the Practicum and Capstone Project. He looks forward to connecting with his fellow students and faculty members and applying the skills he learns from the program to contribute to industries and create positive outcomes in the field. Apart from his professional life, Marc loves to read, write, watch movies, and learn new languages.
