Ashwin Sundaramurthy is an accomplished graduate of SASTRA Deemed University, India, with a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. During his undergraduate studies, he demonstrated a strong focus on gaining technical expertise through hands-on projects. Notably, he developed a streaming data pipeline in Google Cloud Platform to analyze data and create real-time dashboards. He also led a team to build a vein detection system using OpenCV in Python. Passionate about data science, Ashwin began his career at Tiger Analytics as an intern, where he mastered the mathematical foundations of machine learning and the typical workflow of data science projects. He applied advanced analytics using NLP and forecasting techniques for a leading F&B market research company, working with both Python and R. Ashwin’s exceptional performance during his internship earned him a full-time position at Tiger Analytics. In this role, he built propensity models for a retail client, significantly reducing marketing costs by identifying potential prospects. He also developed a price recommendation engine for a renowned QSR chain, covering five national markets across Europe, Asia and North America. This initiative resulted in better revenue opportunities, achieving an acceptance rate of over 80% among store owners. Additionally, he implemented a segmentation approach using Gaussian Mixture Models, effectively grouping over 13,000 stores into more than 100 segments, enabling tailored pricing recommendations. Aspiring to become a masterful data scientist, Ashwin is excited to join the Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science (MLDS) program at Northwestern University. He believes this program will be instrumental in his professional growth, offering a rigorous curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Ashwin looks forward to deepening his expertise in advanced data science techniques, machine learning algorithms etc. He is eager to engage with the distinguished faculty, collaborate with a diverse cohort of peers, and participate in cutting-edge research projects.
