David Ventre Named McCormick STAR Award Winner
David Ventre, laboratory coordinator in civil and environmental engineering, was recently named the spring STAR award winner at a McCormick staff recognition event. The STAR award, which stands for Staff Team Appreciation and Recognition award, is given quarterly to a McCormick staff member who demonstrates leadership and goes above and beyond regular job duties. Staff and faculty can nominate potential award winners, and a selection committee recommends a finalist to the dean for selection.
Ventre was nominated for executing a major reorganization of the department’s dry lab and teaching space.
“During the space transformation, you successfully negotiated with research faculty, interfaced with infill construction and supervised movers,” states the award. “Your efforts have allowed the department to consolidate equipment, which has facilitated the redistribution of space… Additionally, you have taken on increased responsibility for developing new teaching equipment and the operation of research instruments.”
