Admissions Overview

The Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science program welcomes roughly 60 students each fall quarter. Our small cohort ensures our students receive individualized attention and enjoy a tight-knit, collaborative community of exceptionally talented and strongly motivated classmates.

Applications for Class of 2026

The application for admission into the Class of 2026 will open on September 1, 2024. Candidates during this admission cycle apply to enter the program in the Fall Quarter of 2025 and to graduate at the end of the Fall Quarter of 2026.

The Scholarship Priority Deadline for admission is December 1, 2024. The Regular Decision Deadline is January 15, 2025.

Application Deadlines

The admission application must be submitted and completed to be considered by the admissions review committee. The program has two deadlines: 

  • Scholarship Priority Deadline: December 1, 2024, 11:59 PM CT

  • Regular Decision Deadline: January 15, 2025, 11:59 PM CT

Applications submitted and completed by the Scholarship Priority Deadline will receive consideration for admission and scholarship funding as part of the review process. Applications submitted and completed by the Regular Decision Deadline will be considered for second-round scholarship funding and admission, as available.

All admissions decisions are announced in mid-March.

General Requirements

The application for admission into the Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science program requires:

  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement 
  • Unofficial transcripts from all degree conferring or relevant undergraduate and graduate institutions attended
  • You must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the international equivalent) either at the graduate or undergraduate level to be eligible for admission.
  • Unofficial GRE or GMAT score report (optional)
  • Unofficial TOEFL or IELTS score report for international candidates who will/do not hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction
  • Resume or CV 
  • Candidate video (optional)
  • Portfolio or links to GitHub highlighting any major coding projects. you may have completed

Our program does not have required prerequisites, however, candidates should have a strong background in, or aptitude for, mathematics and programming.
