Dean Ottino Speaks at Faculty Dinner
On "Whole-Brain Engineering"
We were fortunate to have Julio Ottino, Dean of the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, address the guests of the biannual MPM/EMDC faculty dinner at Hackney's on Lake on November 17, 2018, giving a talk on his passion for "Whole-Brain Engineering” – a concept which takes left-brain analysis and combines it with right-brain creativity. Dean Ottino believes that effective leadership in the engineering fields requires a mastery of both; in 2017, he was awarded the Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technical Education by the National Academy of Engineering for his development of this unique philosophy.
