Olson Kundig is a collaborative design practice whose work expands the context of built and natural landscapes. Evolving from Jim Olson’s individual studio, Olson Kundig is now led by 13 principals/owners who are supported by over 350 team members. With offices in Seattle, New York City, and Chicago, the firm provides integrated architecture, interior design, exhibit design, urban design, planning, and landscape design services, supported by building performance, visualization, and design technology teams, as well as a robust business office. In 2024, the firm opened a Chicago studio in the Fulton Market neighborhood, drawn by the city’s trailblazing culture and prominence within American architecture history.

Scott Cyphers is an Associate at Olson Kundig and brings leadership to the development of a wide variety of project types. With over 25 years of diverse architectural expertise, Scott is a creative designer and leader. As an Associate, he specializes in the higher education, cultural, and hospitality sectors. His leadership is distinguished by a commitment to design excellence, showcased in his attention to detail while collaborating with clients on successful projects. Scott’s extensive planning knowledge and proficiency in complex programming have fostered enduring partnerships, evident in his involvement with recurring clients at institutions including University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Chicago Botanic Garden, and Chicago Park District. Scott is committed to a design ethos that prioritizes equitable and sustainable projects that positively impact communities. Scott is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a master's in architecture from MIT. Scott has been teaching at Northwestern in the AE&D (Architectural Engineering & Design) program since the start of 2008.
