Dr. Michael Goodkind

Dr. Michael Goodkind, McCormick PhD ’73, and member of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering External Advisory Committee was selected as recipient of the 2012 William H. Wisely American Civil Engineer Award. The award recognizes ASCE members who have made continuing efforts to promote appreciation for the history, tradition, development, and technical and professional activities of the society.

David Boyce

Class of 1961 alumnus David Boyce's paper received the Best Paper Prize at the 50th Anniversary Meeting of the Japan Section of the Regional Science Association International in October. The paper is titled, “Predicting Road Traffic Route Flows Uniquely for Urban Transportation Planning".

Howard Permut

Howard Permut, President of Metro North Railroad, and NU alumnus of the Master of Science in Transportation Program, visited Professor Joseph Schofer’s class “Introduction to Transportation Planning and Analysis,” to describe how Metro North responded to Hurricane Irene. He explained preparations made to protect and shut down the railroad, damage to critical infrastructure caused by winds and flooding, and how the railroad restored service.”
