CurriculumDegree Requirements
To graduate with an MPM degree, students must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) with no incomplete or failing grades. Students must also complete the following:
- A minimum of 12 units, including all required core courses
- All required courses for declared specialization
- All zero-unit required MPM courses
The MPM program also offers an optional degree requirement for career development, which is described as MPM+Career Development, or MPM+. Participation in MPM+ is at the student's discretion, and they may declare their intent to enroll in MPM+ after their first quarter of study in the MPM program. Details about MPM+ can be found here.
Course Types and Unit Counts
MPM courses are categorized into three definitions:
- Core: Courses that must be taken by all MPM students to fulfill the requirements of receiving an MPM degree.
- Required: Courses that are required for a particular specialization. In the A/E/C Business Management specialization, required courses are typically selected from a list of designated electives.
- Elective: Courses that may be chosen within limits to complement the background and career objectives of each individual student.
In the MPM program, students are required to complete 12.0 units of coursework to graduate. Regardless of specialization, the unit allocation per course category is the following:
- Core: 3.5 units
- Required: 5.0 units
- Elective: 3.5 units
Courses can be full (1.0 units); half (0.5 units); and zero-credit (0.0 units). Full-time students must take a minimum of 3.0 units of courses each quarter and may take up to 5.0 units without paying extra tuition.
Course Sequencing
Due to the sequencing of required courses, full-time students are advised to start in the fall quarter. Applicants who are interested in starting the program in a quarter other than fall should contact the MPM administrative team to discuss the impacts of such a plan.
Students may graduate from the MPM program with multiple specializations if they meet the course requirements of each specialization they choose to pursue.
