Research
The Geomechanics group is interested in modeling, simulating, and predicting the inelastic behavior and failure of solids, with special applications to geomaterials, such as, soils, rocks, and concrete. One key aspect of interest is the coupled interaction between solid deformations and fluid flow in fluid-saturated porous media across multiple length and time scales. Applications range from modeling deformations of Earth's crust, mechanics of earthquakes (ex: faulting, liquefaction, etc.) hydrocarbon recovery and sequestration of CO2.
