Welcome Parents
Engineering Career Development (ECD) is focused on guiding students throughout their career development process.
ECD engages students during their freshman year through the prerequisite course CRDV-301 (for undergraduates) and maintains a strong relationship through one-on-one appointments and workshops.
Our Programs
Students are able to pursue any of the four Engineering Career Development Programs that best fits their needs as a student and pre-professional:
- Cooperative Engineering Education Program
- Engineering Internship Program
- Engineering Research Experience Program
- Engineering Projects in Service Learning
To learn more about the programs and services we offer, students can attend one of our annual information sessions. Information sessions for new, incoming students are offered during New Student Welcome Week each year, which occurs in September.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Recently many questions have arisen concerning the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the federal law that protects the privacy of students' education records.
Engineering Career Development guides parents to review Northwestern University’s FERPA Policy to clarify what FERPA says about postsecondary institutions sharing information with parents.
