IEEE Magnetics Society and IEEE Nanotechnology Council Chicago Chapters Meeting
Professor Pedram Khalili is a member of the joint meeting organizing committee and Professors Koray Aydin and Ted Sargent are among the speakers.
The 4th Joint Annual Meeting of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Magnetics Society and IEEE Nanotechnology Council Chicago Chapters will be held in a hybrid format (on Zoom and in-person on the Northwestern Evanston campus) on Friday, November 18.
Convening local and international academics, professionals, and students with broad interests in magnetics and nanotechnology, the meeting will provide a forum for highlighting the latest advances in magnetism, spintronics, nanotechnology, and nanoelectronics, and will provide opportunities to facilitate networking and collaboration.
Northwestern Engineering’s Pedram Khalili, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Vinod Sangwan, research assistant professor of materials science and engineering, are members of the conference organizing committee.
“This joint annual meeting is now in its fourth year, and we are excited to have a fantastic lineup of speakers including four IEEE Distinguished Lecturers, several speakers from universities and national labs in the Chicago area, as well as the two winners of this year’s IEEE Chicago Early Career Awards in Magnetics and Nanotechnology”, said Khalili, who is also chair of the IEEE Magnetics Society Chicago Chapter.
Northwestern speakers include:
- Koray Aydin, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering
- Ted Sargent, Lynn Hopton Davis and Greg Davis Professor of Chemistry and Electrical and Computer Engineering
Additional confirmed speakers include:
- Anand Bhatachaya, Argonne National Laboratory
- Massimiliano Di Ventra, University of California San Diego (IEEE Nanotechnology Council Distinguished Lecturer 2022)
- Michael Flatté, University of Iowa (IEEE Magnetics Society Distinguished Lecturer 2022)
- Joe Heremans, Argonne National Laboratory
- Yue Li, Argonne National Laboratory (2022 IEEE Chicago Early Career Award in Magnetics)
- Aurélien Manchon, Aix-Marseille University, France (IEEE Magnetics Society Distinguished Lecturer 2022)
- Aida Todri-Sanial, CNRS LIRMM, France (IEEE Nanotechnology Council Distinguished Lecturer 2022)
- Amit Trivedi, University of Illinois Chicago
- Tian Zhong, University of Chicago
- Xianjing Zhou, Argonne National Laboratory (2022 IEEE Chicago Early Career Award in Nanotechnology)
The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the O. T. Hogan Biological Sciences Building, 2205 Tech Drive, Room 1-160, on Northwestern’s Evanston campus. The event is hosted by the IEEE Chicago Section Chapters MAG33 and NANO42. The event is co-sponsored by the IEEE Magnetics Society, IEEE Nanotechnology Council, and the IEEE Nanotechnology Council Young Professionals. Participation in the event is free, but registration is required and can be done via the event website.
