Study OptionsCybersecurity Minor
MSIT's three-unit minor in cybersecurity is open to all students enrolled in Northwestern Engineering's professional Master's programs. TGS students are not eligible to enroll at this time.
Students earn the minor by completing five courses (one 10-week course and four five-week courses) for a total of three units. The classes will be focused on a holistic view of cybersecurity topics that are appropriate for leadership roles in this area.
Courses that make up the minor are:
-
Cyber Forensics for Data Breaches (fall, half-credit)
-
Law and Information Technology (fall, half credit)
-
Information Security and Assurance (winter, full credit)
-
Cybersecurity Leadership (spring, half credit)
-
IT Risk Management (spring, half credit)
Interested students can apply for the minor here. All students submit a brief application signed by their advisor. Students outside MSIT submit the application as well as a current CV, a statement of interest in the minor, and qualifying TOEFL/IELTS scores (if applicable). Students outside MSIT should consult with their associate director or academic advisor to determine how cybersecurity minor coursework will apply toward completion of their primary degree program.
