BIOL_SCI 201-0; BIOL_SCI 202-0(can be taken concurrently); CHEM 215-1; MAT_SCI 201-0

Description

This course is an introduction to the field of biomaterials. The course will cover metal, ceramic, and polymeric implant materials, with an emphasis on structure-property relationships that enable their applications as medical devices. Interactions of materials with the body will also be discussed. Course content will be learned and assessed via assigned case studies.

Who Takes It?

This course is typically taken by seniors and first year graduate students that are interested in the fields of Biomaterials, Medical Devices, Tissue Engineering, and/or Regenerative Engineering.

Teaching Methods

Student-directed learning and case studies.
